Deuteronomy 1:26 Rebelling Against God

Nevertheless you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the Lord your God; Deuteronomy 1:26

Being told what to do and how to do it is difficult for most people. This becomes even more true when it is something that one does not really want to do it because it does not make sense or sounds very bad and dangerous. Instead of immediately doing what one is told, many people rebel against it. They will try to argue their way out of what needs to be done, rather than doing it.

As Moses is retelling the Israelites some of their history, he tells of a time in which God told them to go into an area, and they would not go up but rebelled against what God told them to do.

Doing something new and different is difficult when it does not make sense. People are scared to step out into new things. They want to be able to see the full picture and fully understand it prior to moving forward. As a result, they rebel against they are being told to do.

Believers can easily fall into this same trap with what God is telling them to do. God asks people to step out in faith to accomplish some task He has called them to do. Many will look at it and refuse to move forward. All they see is the problems with moving forward, so they rebel against God’s word to them.

Instead of rebelling and complaining, believers are to step out in faith and do what God has called them to do. God will walk side by side with them in everything He commands them to do. He will give strength and direction to accomplish His task for them.

There will be a time in which God is calling you to step out in faith and do something that you do not understand or it looks dangerous and ridiculous. You will have to make a choice as to whether you will obey God’s command or rebel against it. Do not be like the Israelites were and rebel, but obey God’s command immediately. Trust that God knows what He is calling you to do and will be right there with you as you step forward. See what great things God can do through you as you step out in faith and obedience. Do not rebel and get cast out.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will hear what God is calling you to do; that you will do what God has called you to do; that you will know God’s presence as you obey in faith; and that God will do great things through you.
