Exodus 18:8 Talk About What God Has Done

And Moses told his father-in-law all that the Lord had done to Pharaoh and to the Egyptians for Israel’s sake, all the hardship that had come upon them on the way, and how the Lord had delivered them. Exodus 18:8

Visiting with longtime friends or family who one has not seen in a long time is always good to do. People love to catch up on what has happened and changed over the time, sharing the good times and the challenging times. Friends and family are usually happy to hear the updated news.

Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, came to see Moses, who told him all that that God had done for the Israelites in bringing them out of Egypt, the troubles on their journey and how God had helped them in every situation.

Talking to friends and family about what one has done and gone through is easy for most people. They like to share the news. In the process of talking, many will focus on self. It is all about what self had done and what self had gone through.

People love to lift themselves up and show themselves as capable of doing many things. It builds their own ego and confidence up. Many times, it is also to one-up the story of the other person, to show they had it better or worse than the other person they are talking to.

While every person has a story about their life, believers can add in how God was involved in their lives. Instead of self doing everything, they can point to how God did it or gave them the ability to do it.

Telling what God has done and how God has delivered a person is being the witness that Jesus has commanded His followers to do.

When you get together with friends or family whom you have not seen in a long time, what will you talk about? As a believer, there are many things that God has done in your life. Be willing to open your eyes and see those things and then be willing to talk about them. Share what God has done. This can encourage and build other believers up and point those who don’t know Him to Him. It can be used as an opportunity to be His witness and give God all the glory and honor due to Him.

What are you talking about today?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will see what God has done in your life; that you will see how God has delivered you; that you will tell others what God has done; and that you will be His witness every time possible.
