The Lord is a man of war; the Lord is His name. Exodus 15:3
War is something that most people do not like. It always brings about death, destruction, pain and suffering. Those who love war are often seen as violent and evil. There is very little room in the hearts of people to accept war as good and those who promote war as being good leaders. For many, war is avoided at all costs. Yet, war is a reality and something that occurs daily and is also needed in this life.
After God destroyed the Egyptian army and brought the Israelites safely through the Red Sea, Moses and the people sang that God is a man of war and that His name is the Lord.
Asking most people about God’s character very few would say that He is a God of war. People want to focus on that statement that God is love and is for peace. War only means pain, suffering and death, things that very few to no one really desires to have to go through.
Outside of the many physical wars going on throughout the world there is a bigger war that is going on. This war is one that is found in every household around the entire world. It is a war for the souls of every person living on this planet. Satan is out to destroy the lives of every person and keep them from really living and put them into bondage to sin.
God is at war with Satan, evil and sin. It is a battle that rages every moment of every day. He is set on destroying all sin in the lives of people who will put their trust in Him and will follow Jesus. Death of sinful actions, words and thoughts will occur when God is allowed to be in control.
Then the believer will be set free and have abundant life. There is a battle for your life going on. Both God and Satan are fighting for your soul. God is at war against Satan winning that battle. Believing in Jesus as your Lord Master and Savior gives God the authority to go to war against the evil in your life. He is willing to go to battle to give you victory over sin and death so that you may be filled with an abundant and eternal life.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know that God is fighting for your soul; that you will trust God in the battle; that you will see the victory God is winning for you; and that God will set you free from the bondage to sin and death.
