Exodus 9:30 No Real Fear

But as for you and your servants, I know that you will not yet fear the Lord God. Exodus 9:30

No one likes getting caught for doing something wrong. It means that they are in trouble and will have to pay a price for what they did. Paying that price is often painful and no fun. Many criminals who get caught will quickly plead that they are sorry for what they did wrong and beg for forgiveness and mercy. Shortly after getting the mercy, many go right back out and do the same crime again without a second thought about it.

After getting the plague of hail and fire, Pharaoh told Moses that he had sinned and asked for it to stop. Moses told him that Pharaoh and his servants still do not fear God.

It is common that when people go through a very difficult time of trouble and pain that they will call out to God for mercy. They feel that the trouble is punishment due to their doing wrong against God. In the process they will make many promises to God admitting their sin against Him. Very often that right after God gives them mercy and removes the difficulty, they go right back into the sin they were in.

Living in such a way does not have any fear or respect for God and who He is. They only run to Him in times of trouble, but refuse to truly serve Him at during the good times. They love their sin more than they fear God.

Believers who have a true fear or respect for God will run from sin. They will repent and make the choice to not go back. There will be a solid understanding that God is against all sin and there will be a punishment for sin.

Going through life you will make mistakes and sin against God. Some of those sins will be things you do on a regular basis. God will reach down into your life to get you to turn away from that sin by allowing things to go wrong in your life. You have to make a choice as to what you will do. Fearing and respecting God for who He is and what He can do will give you the strength to turn from those sins and flee to Him. Not fearing Him will give you reason to keep going back to those sins.

Do you fear God enough to turn from sin?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s commands to you; that you will fear and respect God with your whole life; that God will give you strength to turn from all sin; and that you will follow God with all of your life.
