Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.” Genesis 28:16
Getting into a large crowd of people can cause one to not see everyone there. Famous people could be there but not be seen by everyone, somehow being missed by some. Other times there are people who walk into a room and their presence is felt by everyone. There is something about the person that everyone knows and sees very quickly every time without even trying.
As Jacob was leaving his family to go to a new land, he laid down for the night and had a vision of God. When he awoke, he said that God had to have been in that place, and he did not even realize it.
Being completely alone is something most people do not care to have for very long. Leaving family, friends and everyone else that one knows behind to go somewhere new is difficult.
Stepping into a new place requires that one begin again in learning new things and new people. Moving to a foreign nation requires even more with having to learn a new language.
Going through life many people feel as if God is no where to be found. They feel all alone in this world that rejects God. Some even feel that God rejects them and wants nothing to do with them.
Believers can often feel that when going through a difficult time.
Yet, God is right there with every believer all the time, never leaving them or forsaking them. One only needs to open up the spiritual eyes to see God’s hand at work in the midst of the wilderness. Even in the middle of trouble and disaster, surely God is right there, and one can know it.
Going through life there will be times in which you may feel as if God is a million miles away. Walking down a difficult path may feel lonely. Allow your spiritual eyes to be awakened and see God and what He is doing. See God’s hand in things all around you and working in your life. God has promised to never leave you or forsake you once you have repented of your sins and chosen to follow Him. Stand back and be amazed when you realize that surely God is in your place.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the presence of God in your life; that you will seek for God when you fee all alone; and that God will make His presence known to you.
