And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Revelation 19:8
Being able to get dressed up in high quality clothing is a desire for many people. The average person does not have any clothing that is of super high quality that looks great. Going out to eat is usually done in just average everyday clothing. One time most people dress up is for their own wedding or the wedding of someone else. Then they try to put on their best.
John records that at the end of the judgement there is a wedding in heaven with the Church and Jesus. The Church is clothed with fine linen, which is the righteous acts of the believers.
Always choosing to do what is right is difficult for many people. Pressure arises from inside and out to take the easy path, pleasing self rather than doing what is right. Those who choose to do what is right often feel as if no one cares and that it was worthless. The world ridicules those who live in the right manner all the time. It goes against the standards of the world.
For the believer, choosing to do what is right is making the choice to obey God every time in every situation. It is choosing to do what is right out of the love God has shown the believer and passing that love on to someone else.
God sees those acts of righteousness and is recording it in heaven. In the end God uses those acts of righteousness to clothe the believer. That clothing will be clean and bright, fine linen that will better than the best clothing the world can ever offer.
The believer will build up that clothing as one does the right thing here in this life.
Getting dressed may be something you like or don’t really like to do. However, there are times that you do it to honor others or to be honored. Trusting in God and doing what is right by His standards is building up a wardrobe for you to wear someday in heaven. God is waiting and desiring to clothe you up in white linen some day. Don’t give in to the pressure of this world and give up doing what is right. You will be rewarded by God in heaven in your future.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will guide you in doing what is right; that God will give you strength to do what is right; that God will have fine linen ready for you to wear in heaven; and that God will give you strength to overcome the temptations of this world.
