Turkey is a nation that actually is found in two different continents, Asia and Europe. Economically it is connected with Europe, while culturally it is connected with Asia. As a result, there are many conflicts as to what to follow.
Sitting in the location it is, Turkey will often play a part in the keeping unity in the region. Claiming to be secular, it does allow some freedom of religion, though many leaders tend to persecute believers as much as Islam does.
For over a thousand years, Turkey had been a strong Christian based nation. Since the early 1900s, it has become more Muslim and begun to turn against Christians.
Over the last couple of decades, the nation has allowed the Jesus film in their language to be brought in. It has allowed people to spread the gospel message. However, spreading the gospel to children is outlawed and severely prosecuted. Most of the colleges across the nation have not allowed for believers to spread the gospel message on the campuses.
Points to pray:
Pray for strength for believers to be His witness
Pray that churches will find ways to spread the gospel message
Pray that children can be reached for the Lord
Pray that freedom to serve God is allowed
Pray that the strongholds of Islam will be broken
Pray that the nation will become Christian once again
