that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3
Walking around every person will see and hear thousands of things each day. Sometimes what is seen and heard is directed directly towards them, while many times it is just things in the background overheard or seen. Everything seen and heard can affect a person’s life, sometimes in great ways, often in little ways. Occasionally a person passes on what was seen or heard to someone else.
John begins his letter telling the people that everything that he and the other disciples had seen and heard they are telling them, so that they can have fellowship together with God and Jesus.
Everyone has some experience that they have had that they want to tell others about. Many times, it is said to change the mind of someone else or to give them a chance at that same experience. Advertisements are filled with someone talking about their experience with some product to get others to purchase that product.
The world works hard at telling their experience with sinful activities. Goals are made to get others to agree with them and go along with them.
While the world talks about their experience with sin, believers also have something to talk about. Every believer has a unique experience in their relationship with God the Father and Jesus Christ. Each one has a unique testimony as to what God has done in their life.
In the same way that the world talks, believers need to talk about all that they have seen and heard from God. Doing this gives others an opportunity to have that same friendship with God and Jesus.
Throughout your lifetime you have had many different experiences of what you have seen and heard that you can talk about. It is probably easy for you to talk about the fun things you have seen and done. One thing that you must be willing to tell others about is what you have seen and heard about God and Jesus. The world needs to hear your testimony and be given the chance to become believers also.
What have you seen and heard about God and Jesus that you can tell others about? Who can you go tell today?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will be willing to tell others what you have seen God do in your life; that you will be willing to tell others what God has told you through His word and directly speaking to you; and that you will be His witness to this world.
