Homeschool Curriculum Book Drive

My wife, Cammie, is doing a homeschool curriculum book drive for people in North Carolina that were devastated by the recent hurricane. Some are still living in tents, many without any power at all. Several public schools were completely destroyed with no plans to rebuild leaving no place for many children to get schooled. Many families lost all of their belongings and are trying to figure out how to keep their children schooled.

She is coordinating with a lady in North Carolina who has been collecting and distributing thousands of curriculums and books to people in need free of any cost. This will help the people in North Carolina to continue schooling in the midst of chaos and devastation. Cammie’s goal is to take as many as possible from Texas to North Carolina.

Currently we plan to use a suburban and a trailer to haul the books. If we get enough, and we are close to it, we will rent a U-Haul to haul the books. Our desire is to collect so many books that we must use a U-Haul to deliver them. We are close to that point already with a few weeks to go. We are collecting until December 10th to leave time to prepare for the delivery. The plan is to leave on December 16 and travel to Jefferson, NC. There we will distribute the books on Dec 19.

Provisions needed:

If we use the suburban and trailer, the equipment is already provided. If we have to use a U-Haul, the price will go up about $1,000 more.
Provision for lodging enroute to and from NC.
Lodging in NC has already been provided for
Estimated fuel costs are around $500 round trip. Currently we have $100 raised.
