Hebrews 11:39 A Good Testimony

And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, Hebrews 11:39

No one really wants to be a witness in a court case. It often brings up fear and can expose things that a person does not really want exposed. Although people don’t want to be a witness in court, every person is a witness and can testify to something. Everyone has an experience in their life that they can talk about, whether it is about something positive or negative that has happened.

After listing many people of the Old Testament and their experiences the author of Hebrews says that they had received a good testimony, but no the promise from God.

People are very quick to talk about what they have experienced in life. They want everyone to know their story, whether good or bad, and what they think and feel about it. When something good happens, most are even more quickly apt to try and tell everyone. They get on social media and spread the word, no matter how little or big it is.

Having something good to talk about is the desire of most people. If everything is going perfect, then people feel they have a good life. When things are going badly, most feel that they are having a bad life.

Inside the church, rather than trusting God for miracles or to give one the needed strength to get through a difficult time, many get angry with God and give up on Him. They see things as a failure, like the world.

Believers gain a good testimony more often when things are going in a rough way. During difficult times, it gives God the opportunity to step in and get the believer through it. It allows Him to do miracles that otherwise could not have been performed.

No matter who you are or what you have done, God has given you a testimony as to what He has done in your life. Those difficult times that you went through, or are now going through, are opportunities for God to work in your life in amazing ways. Instead of just looking at how things did not go perfectly in your life, focus on how God has strengthened you and brought you through hard times. That is a good testimony that only you can give.

Be willing to tell the world the good God has done in your life as you wait for the promise of eternal life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s work in your life; that you will trust God through difficult times; that you will know the testimony that God has given you; and that you will testify to God’s goodness in your life.
