Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 1 Timothy 6:18
Wealth is something that most people are fighting to gain. They want as much as possible so that they can do all the things that they ever wanted to do and have everything that they always dreamed of having. In order to get that wealth desired, many will hoard everything and work extremely hard to get it. As they work to gain wealth, many are missing out on having real joy and purpose in life.
Paul tells Timothy, at the end of his letter, that those with wealth should do good, being rich in good works, always giving and sharing.
While some have extreme wealth, very few will ever get to that point. Yet, everyone person has something and has the ability to give something. It is commonly believed that a person can only give when one has a lot of money, that giving money is the only thing to be given. Yet, there is so much more that can be offered.
What they can give may not always be wealth, but they can give of themselves. People can give of their time and abilities to help others out. Giving just a little bit of time to another person can often mean the world to the person who received it. That slight little bit of physical help may not feel much like really giving, but it can make all the difference to the person needing it.
Believers need to be willing to do good works, to give and to share whenever possible. This is because of what God did for them. Jesus did the good work of dying on the cross and giving them forgiveness and life and sharing the Father with them.
Whether you are wealthy or not so wealthy, you have ways to share and give. No matter how wealthy or poor you are, there is always someone more wealthy and poorer than you, and you always have a way to give. Always seek ways to do good works towards others. Find ways to help others out in giving of your time and abilities. Begin by sharing of what you have, whether it is physical things or your time and efforts. It is showing others what God has done for you and passing His love on to them in ways that are needed.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will reveal ways you can give to others; that God will open doors to be able to do good works; and that you will be generous in sharing what God has blessed you with.
