1 Timothy 1:8 The Law Is Good

But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, 1 Timothy 1:8

Every nation, community, business and home have some laws that are put in place for people to follow. Laws are there to guide people in what and how things can be done in order to protect people from something being done wrong and to prevent them from doing something wrong. Although most laws are being used correctly, there are some laws that are being used to harm others. How the law is used makes all the difference as to how good it actually is.

Paul opens his first letter to Timothy saying that the law is good when it is being used lawfully or correctly.

Hundreds of thousands of laws are written on the books in every nation to cover nearly everything and anything. Each year thousands more are added to those books. People have different feelings about each of the laws made as to whether they are good or bad.

Laws are often used to harm and hold down good people, even when stated that they are made to help them. The world will make laws to allow people to commit sins against God, His word and His people. These laws are not being used lawfully and are not good and only bring about death in the end.

God’s law is good in that it is focused on bringing about life. It is a guidance on how one should live so that one does not sin against God or harm anyone else in any way. The world sees God laws as limiting and harmful, but it is His law that points one to life. It keeps one from heading towards destruction and death.

With forgiveness from Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit one can begin to use God’s law correctly and live an abundant life.

In every place you go there are many laws that you must follow. Most of those laws are put in place to protect you and others. God has laws also for you to follow, laws that guide you on how to live the holy life God has called you to live in Christ Jesus. Do not be angry with God for the laws He has put in place, but embrace them and learn to know the life God has planned for you and the life Jesus paid for you to have.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the laws God has put in place; that you will live the holy life He has called you to live; that God will give you strength to follow His law correctly and that you will know God’s law is good.
