2 Thessalonians 3:11 Are You A Busybody?

For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies. 2 Thessalonians 3:11

People are always doing something everywhere one goes. Very seldom does one see someone else sitting down doing absolutely nothing. Although people are always doing something, not always is that something of value. Many are just being idle, passing time, doing things of no value. This can happen in the workplace, community and in the homes in many different ways to pass the time. During this time, very little work is accomplished.

As Paul closes out his second letter to the Thessalonian church, he tells them that he has heard that some of them are being disorderly, not working and being busybodies.

Smart cellphones have allowed people to become even more lazy than ever before. Hundreds of apps are available that give a person something to do with zero value, other than to just pass time. They are made for a person to escape their needed duties in life.

Getting out of work is the desire of many people. Being able to get the most for the least. This type of characteristic can also be seen in believers inside the church.

Seats are filled with people in the church who never lift a hand to help build God’s kingdom. They know all the songs and the bible verses but refuse to do any ministry inside or outside the church walls. All they want is salvation and nothing else. Being idle pushes God out and opens the door to sin.

Believers are to be like God in that He is always active and doing things. They are to be a witness in word and in action everywhere they go, inside and outside the church gathering.

Each day you are given many opportunities to choose what you will do with your time. The world will push to have you idle your time with mindless and worthless activities to take your focus off of God and His kingdom. Make the choice to make the most of your time for God. Seek God to know what He would have you do so that you do not become just a busybody warming a seat at church. Be on fire for God and His kingdom and do all that you can to build His kingdom in your own life and in this world.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will show you what He would have you do; that you will find a work to do for building God’s kingdom; that God will not find you being idle and a busybody in His church; and that you will be on fire for God.
