Philippians 2:14 Contented Working

Do all things without complaining or disputing, Philippians 2:14

Workplace complaints are commonly seen and heard in the lunchroom. Nearly everyone has something that they are not happy about with their workplace and feel the need to let everyone else know about it. Along with the complaining about something at the workplace, they will also argue with their boss or fellow co-workers about what they are displeased with. Everyone feels that they would be able to run things better than the managers who are in position are running it.

As Paul tells the Philippian believers that God is working in their lives to fulfill His good pleasure, he tells them to do everything without complaining or arguing.

Getting something for nothing is the desire of many people all around the world. No matter how good someone has it, there is always something that is not good enough or right in that person’s eyes. Letting others know that one is upset with complaining about it is the freedom of speech that people like to use.

It is too hot, it is too cold, it is someone else’s job, it is for too little pay, it is too difficult, it takes too long, and the list goes on what people will complain about in work that they must do. And then they begin to argue with everyone about their viewpoint being the right one.

These same types of complaints and arguments are often made by believers inside the church walls. People are not happy at all with anything and will let the world know it.

Rather than complaining and arguing, believers are to be content and do the work needed. Work is to be done as unto the Lord, not for self or others, and with a joy that comes from the Lord.

No matter what job you do, paid or volunteer, there is always something that will not go right or that will be difficult to accomplish. At that point you will have a choice as to how you deal with the situation. It will be easy to complain about it and argue against doing it, but that is not what God wants you to do. Make it your choice to do the work with joy. Remove all complaining and arguing out of your words. Allow God to work in the situation and fill you with His blessings.

Jesus did not complain or argue, so neither should you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God has called you to do; that you will do the work God is giving you with joy; that God will strengthen you to not complain or argue; and that God will work in and through you in mighty ways to build His kingdom.
