Romans 2:16 Secrets Of The Heart

in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel. Romans 2:16

Courts all over the nation are constantly making rulings against men and women who have done something wrong. Some of those wrongs that occurred were done in secret, hidden from normal sight, thinking that they could get away with it. People often feel that if no one sees anything, they are good to go and free to do whatever pleases themselves, even if it is wrong, forgetting that God sees everything that is done in secret.

Paul was writing to the Roman church how the Gentiles had certain laws of God written on their hearts and that in the end God will judge the secrets of the people, whether good or bad actions.

It is easy to do something without anyone, or at least very few, seeing it be done. It is even easier to have thoughts without anyone seeing or knowing about them. In both these ways, people do and think things in secret that they trust no one else sees or knows about. Sometimes these actions and thoughts can be good, but often they are sinful against God.

In the moment, it can appear that the person is free and clear of all judgement. The world often claims God’s love and acceptance of their ways of living because there is no immediate judgement.

When the person dies and stands before God, or when Jesus returns, there will be a judgement of the secret hearts of that person. He will know what the person had thought or done in secret, whether it is good or bad, sinful or righteous.

Believers need to take captive all their thoughts and actions, making them obedient unto the law of God, knowing that God sees and will judge one day. Repentance will remove the sinful thoughts and actions from judgement.

Things that you think or do in secret appear to be unseen. Every time you think or do something, you make a choice as to what that action is. Make the choice to have every thought and action you do be pleasing to God. Do not try to hide sinful behavior from God’s every seeing eye.

Allow God to judge you on the good you have done, not judge against you for the sin you have done in secret. Remember that there are no secrets hidden from God.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will allow God to correct you in the secret things in your life; that you will repent to God of all secret things in your life; and that God will be able to reward you for the good thoughts and actions you have done for Him.
