Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them. Acts 16:10
Plans are made all the time by most people. Once made, very few like to have to change them and do something completely different. It is difficult to change up a plan, unless it is for something that is dramatically different and better. People like to stay on the same course that they had planned to avoid difficulties and other unexpected challenges.
Luke records in Acts that Paul had plans to go to Asia, but God prevented them from doing so. He then receives a vision to go to Macedonia, which he does go to in order to preach the gospel message there.
People who plan out their days have a vision as to what they should do and how to do it. They are focused om a goal and are willing to do what it takes to arrive at that goal. Having that vision gives them a feeling that they are in control of their lives and where they are going.
Usually when change of plans occur, it is because of something drastic that takes priority. Often those changes are not always for what feels like good reasons. Greater disaster may occur if one does not change.
God leads those who believe in Him in a different way. Instead of looking at just the smaller picture of here and now, God is focused upon the eternal picture. He is focused on what it takes to bring as many to believe in Jesus as possible.
With this focus, God will often change up plans that were made in order to reach the lost. Believers need to be willing to change direction to do what needs to be done for God’s kingdom.
You will have a vision of what you would like to accomplish each day and make plans accordingly. Things that interrupt those plans can be discouraging. Allow yourself to be led by the Holy Spirit in each step you take. Be willing to change directions and go where He leads, when He leads. God will suddenly move you a different direction in order to reach someone who is lost, if you are willing to go where He leads.
Are you willing to change your plans to do what God needs you to do?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will be open to hearing God’s plans for your life; that you will be led by the Holy Spirit in what you do; and that you will always go the direction God leads you to walk.
