John 1:12 The Blessing Of Receiving Jesus

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: John 1:12

Being offered a gift is one thing, but actually receiving it is another. In a world where there are many con-artists, many people do not always like to believe that something free is actually good and true. When offered something, they question it and find reasons to reject it. The greater the gift, the greater the level of doubt that rises in the heart and mind.

John writes about Jesus that whoever received Him was given the right to become a child of God by Him when they believed on His name.

Pride often gets in the way of people being willing to accept a gift. People want to be able to make it on their own without help from anyone else.

The world sees Jesus as just a good man who was a prophet and taught some very good things. They do not see any reason to believe in Him more than that and so they will not receive Him for who He really is. As a result, they miss out on the opportunity to become a child of God.

Those whose eyes are opened to who Jesus really is, will choose to receive Him and believe in His name. They will know the blessing that it is only through Jesus that one is saved and allowed to be a child of God, making it into heaven. This is a blessing greater than any other person on earth can ever give one or be able to attain on one’s own ability.

Each person must make the choice as to whether to believe Jesus or not, whether to accept Him or not–to become a child of God or not.

Throughout your life you will have times in which you will be offered something that appears to be amazing and too good to be true. As good as some of those things may be, none will be as good as being able to become a child of God. You have to make a choice as to whether you believe Jesus is who He said He is or not and whether He can and will do what He said He would do.

Make the choice to believe in His name today and become a child of God, the greatest blessing ever.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will believe in the name of Jesus; that you will know you are a child of God; and that you will receive the gift Jesus offers you.
