For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem; the city shall be taken, the houses rifled, and the women ravished. Half the city shall go into captivity, but the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Zechariah 14:2
Major disasters occur in places all over the world. As they occur, many people are killed or displaced for a time, yet there is always a remnant of people who survive and are not displaced. They are able to stay and continue to live in their homes through and after the disaster is over.
Zecharia records God saying that He will bring some nations against Jerusalem to destroy it and cause many to go into captivity, but that there shall also be a remnant left in the city.
People usually feel secure and safe where they live. They feel as if nothing could occur to force them to leave their homes or their way of living. The world does not foresee a major disaster occurring against them.
As a result, the world also works at living in sin more and more. They are building up a judgement by God against them. It is only a matter of time before God brings down judgement against cities and nations for their sin against Him. Cities and nations will fall before God.
Believers do not need to fear the judgement of God. These are the people who have not bowed their knee to the false gods of this world. The nations will fall around them, but they will still be secure in Jesus Christ. They will be the remnant that God leaves behind to be His witness in this world. God will be with them and they with God through the time of disaster and judgement.
Watching the news, you will see or hear about disasters occurring in many places around the world. You are also able to see the rise of sinful practices in the world. God will bring about disaster to get the attention of the people and judge them for their sin.
Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and repent of all sins. Follow God alone and allow Him to lead you through the disasters that will occur. Be the remnant that will follow God and be His witness in this world in spite of all the disaster.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will remove all fear of coming judgement and disasters; that you will trust and follow God; that God will make you part of the remnant to be His witness; and that God will be your peace in times of disaster.
