Zechariah 10:2 Delusions Spoken

For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd. Zechariah 10:2

Ideas and dreams are talked about all the time. Advertisements speak of having the ideal life if one purchases some item or service. If one has certain things, then one will have the joy, comfort and peace one is looking for in life. Each time someone gets something for the joy, there is one more thing needed to finish out the joy.

Zechariah tells the people that the idols and diviners are speaking lies and false dreams, their comfort is in vain, so the people are wandering aimlessly like sheep in trouble with no shepherd.

Idols and diviners can be seen everywhere in every nation around the world. Often, they are not portrayed in little statues that people physically bow down to and sacrifice to. Instead, they are those who are selling things and the items that people purchase.

The world falsely says that if one has a certain item or service, or if one lives a certain way one will have true joy and true life. On the surface it looks great, but in the end, there is only death. People keep wandering around looking for the perfect life with perfect joy but keep missing it following the idols.

Believers are to reject the false delusions and lies of this world. Instead of seeking life and joy in the false dreams of this world, believers are to look to Jesus, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the true Shepherd who leads to an abundant and eternal life full of joy. They are to be the sheep with a Shepherd led on the path of truth.

The world is working hard to get you to follow false lies of what life should be like. Idols are clamoring to get you to follow them, rather than follow God. Choose each day to follow God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. Follow His truth and grasp His vision and dreams, rather than those of the world. Be led by His Holy Spirit, rather than by the unstable ways of self and this fallen world. Embrace the true life God has for you each day.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your spiritual eyes to the lies and delusions of this world; that you will be led by the Holy Spirit in every area of your life; and that you will know the comfort God has for you.
