The Lord will be awesome to them, for He will reduce to nothing all the gods of the earth; people shall worship Him, each one from his place, indeed all the shores of the nations. Zephaniah 2:11
Worship is the putting something above everything else, making it to be number one in one’s life. Every person is made to worship. People will often worship things, positions, ideals, or other people, but they will worship something. What is worshipped is what is made into a god for each person individually.
Zephaniah writes about God striking the nations that are against Him. He says that God will destroy all of the gods of the earth and that everyone will worship Him from all the nations.
The majority of people of this world will lift up and honor something above all other things. They will put all their time, effort, concentration and focus upon that one thing, often at the expense of others. These things have become the false gods that they worship.
False gods can also appear in the lives of people in the church. Worshipping their position, the music, the style of service or other things above God Himself.
It appears that there is nothing wrong with worshipping these gods, but God will have a day when judgement comes. In that time of judgement, God will destroy all false gods and cause every knee to bow down to Him and worship Him.
People have a choice today to make the choice to worship God above all other gods. They have a choice to be able to destroy those false gods in their lives before God’s judgement comes.
One needs to examine one’s life and get rid of the false gods in one’s lives. God is to be placed above all others and worshipped alone.
Things are trying to get your attention and focus in your life. The world wants you worship the false gods around you. Do not allow yourself to worship the false gods of this world. Do not bring on the wrath of God.
Rid yourself of the false gods before God has to step in and force it with judgement. Put God first in your life and worship Him with all of your mind, strength and ability. Let the world know who your God is and be His witness as your lift Him up and worship Him rather than the false gods of this world.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will reveal any false gods in your life; that God will strengthen you in getting rid of the false gods; and that you will worship God with all of your life.
