You marched through the land in indignation; You trampled the nations in anger. Habakkuk 3:12
Anger rises in people when something wrong is done to them. If it rises high enough, a person will be willing to strike back. The striking back may be in correction, but often it is in punishment and vengeance.
No one wants anything done wrong to them. Most feel that if they do wrong, the other person must have mercy and do nothing about it, even when there is no repentance.
Habakkuk writes that God had marched through the land and walked over the nations in His anger against them.
Living from day to day, people feel that they can do what they want with no consequences. For nearly 2,000 years the message of Christ has been preached and warnings of His return have been talked about, and as of yet the rapture has not occurred. People feel that judgement will not occur.
Life just goes on. Sin is promoted as good. Belief in God is promoted as evil. God, if He is real, will not do anything.
As one looks through the Bible, one can see that God does not always remain silent in the background doing nothing. Habakkuk saw God going through and striking the nations that were against Him and Israel. He did not strike with just a little frustration, but with great indignation and anger. Time and time again God strikes nations for being against Him and His people.
Although God is a God of love, His anger is rising against those who are against Him. There will come a day when He is done with the sin and has Jesus return for final judgement.
Everyone needs to be ready, repentant of sins and believing in the death and resurrection of Jesus to avoid His anger and judgement.
You can look at the world around you and see the abundance and promotion of sin and violence against God’s people, both Israel and believers. God’s judgement will come against all nations and those who reject Jesus. Do not allow yourself to partake in the sin of this world and bring God’s judgement and anger upon your head.
Flee all sin and live the life God is calling you to live. Accept Jesus into your life and be changed into a new creation. Be His witness to warn others of the coming judgement.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to the sin around you and in your life; that you will repent and believe in Jesus; that God will not need to bring His wrath upon you; and that you will be a witness of Jesus to the world around you.
