Micah 2:1 Woe For Inventing Evil

Woe to those who devise iniquity, and work out evil on their beds! At morning light they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. Micah 2:1

Inventing things is something that has been done throughout all of history. People come up with new ideas on how to accomplish something easier or better. Thousands of inventions have been developed that have helped people overcome sicknesses or injuries. They have allowed people to travel easier, safer and faster over time with the inventions people have discovered. Even after several thousand years, people still invent new things or ideas.

Micah calls out woe to those who invent iniquity or evil and then practice it just because they have the ability to do so.

The invention of things or abilities can either help or hurt a person. Some things help people, such as medicine, while other things harm, such as ability to murder in the womb. The world sees freedom in being able to invent anything and everything. There is no moral standard of what is right or wrong.

As a result of no moral standards, the world works hard at inventing things to sin more and more against God.

The world promotes these things and more as good and a right to do. Many in the church have also taken up these inventions and promoted them as good, and also come up with many of their own.

All these things are done not realizing that they are storing up the wrath of God against them. Judgement will fall on their heads. Eternal condemnation is on its way for rejecting the ways of God and turning to sin.

Instead of devising more ways to sin, believers need to be inventing ways to serve God and spread His gospel message of salvation to the world.

No matter where you look or go you will be able to see the results of thousands of different inventions. Many of those inventions are made to be ways to sin against God. Do not allow yourself to be caught up in sinful inventions of fallen mankind. Do not allow yourself to be an inventor of a sinful act.

Put your mind to work out things for God’s glory and honor. Build people up in the Lord, not teaching them to sin more against God. Practice and promote the things of God, not the things of this world.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to things and ways that are sinful; that God will guide you in inventing things that honor Him; and that God will use you in leading others to Christ and the ways of God.
