So the people of Nineveh believed God, proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest to the least of them. Jonah 3:5
Given a chance to accomplish something is not something that people are always given. Many have their ideas or dreams shot down before given a chance because they do not appear to be possible to occur. People stay at the bottom rung of life because there is nothing higher allowed for them to attain.
Occasionally some are given that chance to make something happen. Suddenly they accomplish something great and everyone else is amazed.
Jonah preaches to the people of Nineveh, and they all believe God and proclaim a fast with putting on sackcloth.
Every person on this earth is born into sin. Each person has sinned against God and is going to be punished for those sins, unless they change.
In churches there are believers, only because someone cared enough to tell them about Jesus, their sins and coming judgement. Many of those believers, however, do not go out and tell the rest of the world about Jesus.
They see many in the world as too horrible in sin and will not believe. Some think that the world deserves the judgement of God.
Every person needs to hear about the salvation Jesus provides. Each person also needs to hear about the coming judgement when Jesus returns. It does not matter how good or evil a person is, they need to be given a chance to believe in or reject Jesus.
Believers need to be willing to go out to their neighbors and tell them about Jesus. This means also going to those who do not appear to ever want to hear about Jesus and are steeped in evil. They may believe God, repent and change.
The world around you is dying in sin and needs the chance to believe in Jesus. Many have probably never been given the gospel message, so have never had the opportunity to repent and change. Do not judge them and refuse to bring the gospel message to them.
Be the Jonah to those around you and bring God’s message to them. Give every person the chance to believe in Jesus and be saved. It may be that at your word that they will believe in Jesus, repent and turn from their wicked ways to follow and obey God.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to those who need Jesus; that God will show you who to speak the gospel message to; and that God will use you to turn hearts towards Him.
