Hosea 8:12 Is God’s Word Strange To You?

I have written for Him the great things of My law, but they were considered a strange thing. Hosea 8:12

There are laws made in the past that people now look at as strange. They wonder why those laws were put in place. Not knowing what was occurring at the time, most people cannot understand the need for some law. For the most part, many will begin to ignore laws that they do not understand or that are too strange for them to begin to accept or follow.

Hosea records God telling the people that He had written His law for them, but they considered His law a strange thing and would not follow His law.

In every city and nation on the planet there are laws that have been created. They are created for very specific circumstances to prevent harm or to help others out. The laws are what gives guidance to a person on what can or cannot be done, or what should or should not be done.

Ignoring the law will cause the person to break the law. Then there are usually consequences to the breaking of the law.

God has had His law written down to show a person how to live life. This is not just the Pentateuch, but the entire bible from Genesis to Revelation. Along with telling people what they can and cannot do, God also makes it possible to follow His law.

Most people ignore God’s law in His word. They feel that they can live anyway they want. As a result, there is coming a day of judgement.

Believers need to make sure that they do not see God’s commands as a strange thing but are willing to obey them. God’s law is made with perfect love to help the believer to live life to one’s fullest.

No matter where you live there are laws that are expected to be followed and obeyed. Each of these laws contain a consequence for not obeying them. In the same way God has laid down laws and commands for you to follow. It may appear that there is no consequence for not obeying some of God’s laws, but God sees and there will be a day of judgement.

Study God’s word and know His commands. Listen to His Holy Spirit for guidance. Do not allow His word to become strange to you but make it a daily part of the life God has for you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know God’s word and commands; that you will obey all of God’s word to you; and that you will hide His commands in your heart.
