By swearing and lying, killing and stealing and committing adultery, they break all restraint, with bloodshed upon bloodshed. Hosea 4:2
Nations and people are always described by what they do or have done. With a description of what they have done it can cause them to be guilty of something wrong or not guilty. No one really wants to be found guilty of doing something wrong. People want to be seen as good or acceptable.
Hosea records God saying that the people of Israel were swearing, lying, killing and committing adultery with no restraints, causing bloodshed.
Nations are made up of people and how the people act, react and what they do gives the nation a reputation as to what it is like. In every nation there is lying, killing, stealing and committing adultery. This is done on a regular basis and often with the sanctions of the government.
People lie in saying that it is acceptable to commit sexual sins or murder an unborn baby. People steal by cheating others out of what is rightfully theirs or not doing their best at their workplace. There are many who are physically killing others and nearly every nation allows for the murder of unborn babies.
As a result, many nations, including America, has begun to break off all restraints. Ignoring the truth, sin is promoted as acceptable and good. Many churches have begun to buy into the sinful ways and thoughts of the world, ignoring God’s Truth. Children are being taught this, causing bloodshed upon bloodshed.
One must begin with examining one’s own life and see if one is guilty of any sin. Then there must follow repentance of the sin and turning to God’s Truth. Believers must also be willing to speak the truth boldly and courageously to their fallen neighbors and nation.
It would not take much for you to look around you and sin the sinful nature of the people and nation you live in or around. You may even be guilty of some of the sins the people take part in. Repent of your sins and put on the restraints God has set in place.
Tell those around you about Jesus and God’s Truth. Give people the opportunity to know the Truth and turn from their sin and gain the life God has for them. Pray that God will send you and others to turn your nation around to one that serves God.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will repent of any sins you have committed; that you will live for God; that you will speak God’s truth to the people of your nation; and that God will redeem your nation for His purpose.
