O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for Your own sake, my God, for Your city and Your people are called by Your name. Daniel 9:19
In desperate times or in extreme trouble, people will quickly beg for some help. They will become very humble and seek others to help them out. This becomes even greater when they are in trouble for having done something wrong. People will plead for mercy, rather than taking the full punishment deserved. No one wants to receive the full punishment that is coming.
Daniel goes before God and pleads God to listen and forgive the people for their sins. This is done for His sake, His city and His people.
Every nation and city around the world are steeped in sin as a whole. Sin is acceptable and often promoted as good for everyone to do. Very few to no city in the world is composed of a majority of believers.
As a result, God is set to bring judgement up the cities and the nations. This judgement may begin with disasters striking the city in some form or another. Or ultimately the people will be judged upon death as they stand before God.
Every believer needs to be a witness to their city, letting them know the disaster that is coming. As they are a witness, believers can also go before God in prayer seeking His mercy to hear and forgive all. This prayer needs to be one of desperation.
The time of being able to be forgiven is getting shorter every day. People are dying daily and losing the opportunity to repent. Each day is getting closer to Christ’s return that will bring an end to the ability to repent.
Whichever city and nation you live in, there is a great need for the people to repent of their sins. People are dying in their sins. Go before God in desperate prayer and seek Him to forgive their sins. Seek God to break down the walls that people have against Him.
The time is short and the need for forgiveness is great. God hears the prayers of His people of which you are a part of. Allow God to use you to be His witness to draw others to Him. Your prayers may be just what your city or nation needs to turn to God and be forgiven.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will pray for the salvation of those in your city and nation; that you will be desperate to see God forgive others; and that God will turn your city and nation to Him.
