Ezekiel 42:20 Separation Of Holy And Common

He measured it on the four sides; it had a wall all around, five hundred cubits long and five hundred wide, to separate the holy areas from the common. Ezekiel 42:20

In a world that is currently demanding uniformity as unity, there is also a lot of separation that occurs. Walls are built up to keep people out of certain areas. Every store or business location has walls and areas that most people are not allowed into for various reasons, sometimes for security reasons, and other times for safety reasons.

Ezekiel records God giving him the dimensions of the temple. Part of it was an outer wall that was five hundred cubits (approximately 750 feet) by five hundred cubits, that was set to separate the holy from the common.

The world seeks to destroy the wall between the holy and the common. With no solid foundation to stand upon, there are no moral absolutes in this world. Anything is acceptable as long as the individuals involved accept it. Gender is now considered fluid with no standards. Life is now considered fluid and can be taken for any reason.

This fluidity and no standards have crept into the church. Many individuals and some churches have now accepted sinful acts as acceptable to God. There is now, in many ‘believers’ lives and ‘churches’ that have no wall between the holy and the common, holy and the sinful.

Believers need to stop and examine their lives to see if they have broken down the wall that God’s holiness has put up. Jesus died to remove sin and break the power of sin over the believer’s life, not so the believer can continue in sin, but will be able to flee it and be removed from its bondage.

There needs to be a wall between the holy life of the believer and the sinful acts of this fallen world. Jesus died to remove your sins and give you His holiness and righteousness. He set you apart as a holy unto God and put a wall between you and sin.

Do not break that wall down and allow sin to enter your life. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you to stay away from all sin and live the holy life Jesus has given you to live. Be in this world, but not of it. Be in this world, but do not partake in its sin.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the wall God has set up between holy living and sinful living; that you will be led by the Holy Spirit to flee all sin; and that you will walk in the holiness of Jesus in all that you think, say and do.
