Ezekiel 36:9 Tilled And Sown

For indeed I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown. Ezekiel 36:9

Vegetables come from gardens and fields that are planted and grown all over the world. Farmers have to till the ground in order to break up the soil and make it ready for seeds to be planted. Then the seeds are planted. Although the seeds are planted, the work is not done. One must continue to tend the garden to keep the weeds down and to ensure there is plenty of water until the plants grow and produce fruit to be harvested.

Ezkiel records God saying to Israel that He is with them and will turn to them, so that they will be tilled and sown. This occurs after they were scattered around the nations in captivity and God was going to bring them back to their land.

People want to believe that when they become a believer and begin following Jesus that everything will be easy and smooth. They are often told that God will meet all of their needs and it is a joyful life. God can heal and provide in amazing ways and that one will no longer have any needs that are not met.

As they believe these things, suddenly problems and trials arise, and it shocks them. Many then get discouraged or angry with God and walk away.

God works in the life of a believer by tilling the ground and sowing the believer out into the world to be His witness. The sowing is breaking up the hard heart and removing the sinful habits in one’s life. As this is done, God sows the believer to go out and be His witness to bring others to Him.

Believers must not be discouraged or angry during the time of tilling because it is for their good.

God is with you and for you. This means that God will work in your life to make you more like Jesus each and every day. In order to do this, God must till the ground of your heart and life.

This process will sometimes be painful and very difficult. Do not give up on God but continue to trust His work in your life. Allow God to finish the tilling so that you can be sown as His witness to the world. Do not forget in the process that God is for you, not against you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will allow God to till up your heart and life; that you will trust God working in your life; that you will know that God is for you; and that you will produce good fruit for Him.
