Ezekiel 14:13 Results Of Persistent Unfaithfulness

Son of man, when a land sins against Me by persistent unfaithfulness, I will stretch out My hand against it; I will cut off its supply of bread, send famine on it, and cut off man and beast from it. Ezekiel 14:13

In the workplace, when a person is consistently not doing the job, the employer will cut the person off. That person will be fired and replaced by someone else for continually failing to do the job as expected. This will often occur in many other places because of unfaithfulness of a person in failing to do what is expected.

Ezekiel records God saying that when a land sins against Him by persistent unfaithfulness, He will cut the land off from bread, man and beast, and bring famine upon it.

People often feel that they can get by without doing the required job. In the workplace, there are often many people who cut corners, show up late and not fully do the job on a regular basis. Over time it will show up and the consequences can be very severe.

Individuals will often work in the same way with God. Claiming to believe in Jesus, yet consistently being unfaithful to Him, even when they know they are doing wrong. They hold onto God’s love, mercy and patience, believing that God will not do anything about it.

Although God is patient with a person, if one continues to purposefully and persistently live in sinful ways, rejecting His commands, there will come a judgement. It will begin with God cutting off the bread, His word from that person. One will no longer hear from God. Then comes a famine from not being fed by God’s word. Ultimately there comes the final judgement in hell.

Believers need to repent and turn from sin. Living in sin is not an option.

Taking a good look at your own life, ask yourself if there is any sin that you are persistent in doing with no regrets or sorrows. That sin is one that is pushing God out of your life. It is turning Him away from you.

Hear God’s word in your life, while there is time, and repent of those sins and turn from all those sins. Do not allow any sin to rule over your life and turn God from you. He is willing to forgive you and give you strength to overcome sin, if you listen and obey Him.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will reveal any persistent sin your life; that you will repent before God of any persistent sin; and that God will strengthen you to resist all sin.
