Ezekiel 2:4 God Is Sending You

For they are impudent and stubborn children. I am sending you to them, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God.’ Ezekiel 2:4

People have to carry messages to others all over the world. Most often this is found in businesses where a lower-level supervisor is carrying a message to the workers from a higher-level supervisor. The message carrier is bound to bring the message. Those who are receiving it have a choice as to whether or not to obey the message, however, there are consequences to their choice.

Ezekiel records God telling Him that He is sending to the people of Israel, who are stubborn children, to bring the message of what God is saying.

Years ago, before cell phones and computers, messengers were often people who traveled on foot to bring a message to a person. Sometimes these messages were of good news, while other times the messages were of bad news. During war time, people feared hearing a message, because most often they were bad news. Either way, the messenger had to bring the news.

Believers are commissioned by God, just as Ezekiel was, to bring the news of what He is saying. While the words have changed some, the message has not. The message is that people are living in sin and dying and need salvation, they need Jesus and His blood to forgive them of their sin and give them life.

Most believers will not be sent out to a nation as a whole like Ezekiel. Individual believers will be sent out to their local areas, the workplace, the stores, the gyms, the schools, the next-door neighbor, the restaurant, the post office and anyone else they meet wherever they meet.

Some will accept the message, others will not, but the message still needs to be conveyed to the people.

You are most likely not a person who has to carry messages to others on a regular basis. However, as a believer you have the greatest message to carry to the world. The world around you is dying in sin and most don’t even know about it. They have not heard of the saving knowledge of Jesus.

God has commissioned you to carry His message to the world around you. Every day you will have opportunities to tell someone something about God in the places that you go. Who will you bring God’s message to today?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will reveal to you open doors to share His message with those you meet; that you will know the words God wants you to speak; and that God will draw others to Himself through you.

  1. Thanks for the encouragement to carry the good news of Jesus Christ. It’s easy to get settled into our daily routines and forget that we need to be aware of those around us and the opportunities God gives us to be a witness. In this new year, I want to be more aware. Thanks for the prayer, Tom!

    1. Dawn,
You are welcome. This is also something that I need to be aware of and be available for every opportunity to share the gospel message. I am not always the best at it.
Have a blessed day in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
