The precious sons of Zion, valuable as fine gold, how they are regarded as clay pots, the work of the hands of the potter! Lamentations 4:2
Gold is something that is considered of high value in every nation around the world. The higher the quality of gold, the more valuable it is. Those who have gold, treasure it and keep it very safe. It is the same with a clay pot that has been molded to near perfection. High quality clay pots are also of extreme value to those who have them.
Jeremiah, in the midst of captivity, states that the sons of Zion (Jerusalem) are valuable as fine gold. They are also like clay pots that are the work of a potter.
It is common to hear people say that they do not think that they are of any value. They do not hold some high prestigious position, nor do they have a family name that is popular. They do not have a huge three-car home, nor drive the newest car on the market. In their minds, they are a nobody in this great big world that is ready to crush and destroy them.
God sees each person as something different than what they are or what they think they are. He sees them of extremely high value, just as a potter sees a lump of clay as something of high value.
When a person chooses to allow God to mold and shape them into who that person should be, then that person becomes someone of high value to God’s kingdom. God thought each person was valuable enough to send His Son Jesus down to die upon the cross. This was done to forgive them and mold them into who they were meant to be.
Believers need to allow God to mold them and shape them into someone of great value.
You may often feel as if you are of no real value in this great big world. There may not be many physical things to show for your life and you may not hold any high position. Do not trust in the things of this world but realize how valuable you are to God. Allow Him to mold and shape you into the image of Jesus. You are as valuable and more so than very fine gold. Be who God has meant you to be.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know your value to God; that you will allow yourself to be clay in God’s hands; and that you will be who God has meant you to be.
