Jeremiah 36:24 Do You Fear God’s Judgement?

Yet they were not afraid, nor did they tear their garments, the king nor any of his servants who heard all these words. Jeremiah 36:24

Hearing about something is different than acting upon what is heard. Everyday people are bombarded with all kinds of news, some good, some bad, some are warnings, and some are not warnings. With the extreme amount of news being heard, most people just hear it and do not act upon it. Many feel that they cannot do anything to make a change in the situation or help out in any way.

Jeremiah had his scribe, Baruch, read God’s coming judgement to the king and his leaders. They rejected it and tore it up. They were not afraid of God’s coming judgement against them.

For nearly two thousand years people have heard of the coming return of Jesus and the judgement of God’s wrath upon unbelievers. At this point in time, Jesus has not returned, nor has there been a worldwide judgement upon sinners. As a result, many people have rejected His word and do not believe that there is a coming day of judgement. This is also occurring in the church.

Even though there has not been a worldwide judgement upon the earth for sin, God has punished many for rejection of His word and turning towards sin. Sickness, disease, hatred and violence has risen to astronomical levels across the world. Strange natural disasters have occurred in various places, killing many.

Although these are not the final judgement, they all can be ways of God trying to get the attention of the people back on Him. They may be a form of God’s trying to correct the people before the final judgement that will result in eternal death.

Those who claim to be believers, must be willing to hear and act upon all of God’s word and turn from sin.

Every day you see various warnings of all different types. Some of these may pertain to you, while others may not. In each one you have a choice as to how you react to it and whether you accept it or not.

God’s word has warnings to you that you must be willing to hear and act upon. As with all warnings in His word, there may be some that do not apply to you. Seek God’s guidance and do not reject His word, but act upon it.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will hear God’s warnings about coming judgement; that you will obey all of God’s commands to you; and that you will not be ashamed of what His word says.
