Jeremiah 30:8 Breaking The Yoke Of Slavery

For it shall come to pass in that day, says the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from your neck, and will burst your bonds; foreigners will no more enslave them. Jeremiah 30:8

Freedom is something that people in every nation desire. No one wants to be under bondage to anyone or anything, but desire to be able to do what they want, when they want and how they want. Although slavery has been outlawed in most nations, slavery is alive and well and exists in every nation, even the most free of nations.

Jeremiah records God saying that there is coming a day in which He will break the yoke from the neck and break the bonds of the Israelites placed on by the enemy to enslave them. They will no longer be slaves.

The majority of people around the world feel as if they are free or mostly free from slavery. As a whole, people can do most things that they desire of their own free will. Very few are completely held in bondage by another person and forced to what they can and cannot do.

While people appear to be free, very, very few are actually free. Nearly every person is in bondage to slavery, even in the freest of nations. This slavery and bondage is to sin. On one’s own, one cannot help but sin. The types of sin may vary from person to person, but everyone sins against God.

No one is able to break the bondage of sin on their own. Only by the power of God through the blood of Jesus can that bondage be broken. From the moment a person chooses to repent from all sin and believe in Jesus, that person has all bondages of sin broken. The believer is no longer a slave to sin.

Unless you have given your life to Christ Jesus, you are in bondage to sin. Sin reaches into your life and causes you to continue to sin, no matter how hard you try on your own. This bondage to sin will only lead to eternal death.

Go to Jesus and repent of all your sin. Allow God to remove those sins and break the bondages in your life. Let Him give you a new life that is led by the Holy Spirit so that you may choose life and what is right and holy in the eyes of God.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the freedom from sin that Jesus will provide; that you will be led by the Holy Spirit in all that you do; and that God will keep you from all slavery to sin.
