Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, thus says the Lord: Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good. Jeremiah 18:11
No one likes to have others plan against them or have plans of disaster to occur. Most will do what they can to stop the danger that is coming their way, if they can see what is coming and how to stop it. Often many cannot see the way to stop disasters coming.
Jeremiah quotes God telling him to tell the people of Judah and Jerusalem that He is making a disaster and a plan against them, and that they are to turn from their evil and follow Him.
It is common for people of the world to see disasters that occur in their lives as a part of the natural world or the result of other people. Very rarely do people see problems in their lives as a result of God’s working in their lives.
God does not really want anyone to die in their sins. He does not really want to destroy anyone or cause disaster in their lives. His focus is to build people up, not tear them down. However, most people turn from God and live lives of sin against Him.
Many in the church have turned their backs on God so that they can live in sin, while at the same time claiming to be a believer. In doing so, God will bring upon them disasters and trouble to get their attention back upon Him. He will allow disaster to occur to show that their way of living is not good.
All a one needs to do is repent and turn back to God to stop the disaster and have the life God really wants for the believer.
God has great plans for you to grow and be fruitful in your life for Him. Your actions and heart will determine what God can and cannot do. If you choose to walk in sin, God will have to bring about plans against you to cause you to return to Him.
Do not give God a reason to plan against you but walk in His ways and do His good. Leave the life of sin and walk the righteous path Jesus laid out for you.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will see God’s hand at work in your life; that God will strengthen you to flee all sin and live for Him; that you will do the good God has planned for you; and that you will not give God a reason to plan against you.
