Therefore I will number you for the sword, and you shall all bow down to the slaughter; because, when I called, you did not answer; when I spoke, you did not hear, but did evil before My eyes, and chose that in which I do not delight. Isaiah 65:12
No one likes to be set for destruction. People are always seeking ways to avoid being destroyed. However, often people are unwilling to see the correct path to take to get out of being destroyed. All they see is the here and now and pleasure of the moment, rejecting the correct path to take.
Isaiah quotes God in telling the people that He has numbered them for the sword and slaughter because they refused to answer His call or listen to Him, but continually did evil before Him.
During a time when there is a large hurricane coming into an area, people are often warned to evacuate for their safety. While most people will evacuate, there are some who refuse to listen to the warning and stay. Many are then harmed because of their refusal to listen.
God has a desire to save all people. He is calling all to turn from their sins and follow Him. The world has not heard His call yet, and so cannot be expected to follow and obey His commands.
Living purposefully in sinful ways, there are many in the church who have chosen to reject God’s call yet consider themselves to be believers and followers of God. Often the inside of the church looks no different than the world in how they live in sin and call it good.
Those who live like that are numbered for the sword and destruction. The judgement of God will fall upon them if they do not turn from their wicked ways, follow God and be saved.
God has called for you to be saved. He desires to save you, not destroy you. It is completely up to you on which path you will choose to follow. Do not reject God’s word when He speaks to you through His word or His Spirit or through others. Listen and obey, turning from all sin and live the righteous and holy life that Jesus has provided for you. If you do not listen and obey, all that is left is judgement, being numbered for the sword and destruction in the end.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will answer God when He calls; that you will obey God’s word to you; that you will not do evil in the sight of God; and that you will repent of all sin and be like Jesus in all your ways.
