Cry aloud, spare not; lift up your voice like a trumpet; tell My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. Isaiah 58:1
There are times when there is important news or information that must be broadcast quickly and loudly for all to hear. This is often during times of emergency when there is danger in the vicinity. If the information is not broadcast loudly, people will not hear and be able to respond. As a result, people will be harmed and unable to get out of the way of danger.
Isaiah quotes God in telling him to cry out aloud and spare no one in letting them know about their transgressions. His voice is to be like a trumpet.
No one really likes to hear bad or negative news. People love to hear things that are good, uplifting and encouraging. Yet, people need to hear when something bad is coming or occurring.
The world is living in sin. Along with the world, many in the church are also living in sin. People claim to believe in Jesus, but also live as the world does. They feel that God still loves them, and nothing is wrong.
Churches and believers have become silent about letting people know about sin. They do not want to offend anyone. If one is not warned of sin, then one will never see the need to have Jesus in one’s life and be forgiven. It will keep them on the path to death.
Believers reveal sinful habits that are prevalent in the church and the world and give people a chance to repent and turn from their sins. The church should be the first place where people are repenting and fleeing their sins, not embracing them.
It is probably easy for you to see sin that is around you both in the church and in the world. There may even be sinful habits in your own life. God wants you to get rid of that sin in your life. He also wants you to let others know of sin, so that they may be able to repent and be saved.
Take time to let others know of sin and the chance to be forgiven. Give them the opportunity to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. Share the good news of Jesus as a loud trumpet for all to hear.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will repent before God of all sin in your life; that you will share the gospel message of Jesus to all; and that you will point all to God’s ways in the world and in the church.
