Isaiah 37:20 Saved For The World To Know God

Now therefore, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know You are the Lord, You alone. Isaiah 37:20

As people go through struggles and difficulties, they want to be helped out of it. Some will want to know the correct path or actions to take to turn their circumstances around. Others want someone to come in and rescue them from the troubles. Nearly every time, it is all about getting out of the troubles for their own personal sake, not for others.

Isaiah records Hezekiah calling out to God to save them from the hand of Sennacherib so that all the kingdoms of the earth will know that He, alone, is God.

The world is always focused upon self. Self wants everything to be comfortable and trouble free for self’s sake. When things are going wrong, many are quick to cry out for help, but it is rarely help that will help others, but only for self.

This same problem occurs in the church with believers seeking help from God. There is nothing wrong with asking God for help, but often the request is founded on selfish principles, not to honor God. All that one wants is to be free from all trouble for their own personal sake.

Believers, who have the heart of God, will want to be free from troubles in order to point the world to God’s love, power and abilities. Immediately they will point out what God has done in their lives by His grace and mercy upon them.

They do not use the freedom from troubles to build themselves up or gain things for themselves, but to pour back into His kingdom. They understand that God is God alone, and they want the world to know it.

As you are going through various difficulties in your life, you are probably crying out to God for help. Ask yourself what your motivation for asking God for help is. Are you asking to just be free from difficult times? Or are you asking so that the world may know that God is God and is in control? Work on your internal desires for God to meet needs to be focused back on the bigger picture God has for you and your life. Do not be selfish but share what God has given you and done in your life with the world so that some may believe and be saved.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know that God is God alone; that you will tell the world that God is God alone; that you will seek God’s help for His glory and honor; and that you will give God public praise for all He has done in your life.
