Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law contend with them. Proverbs 28:4
Laws are put in place to guide people throughout every community and nation around the world. Some laws are for the good, while others promote wrong and sin. Although there are laws in place and there are consequences to not following them, many people choose to reject following some or many of the laws. People often feel that they are above the law or do not need to follow the laws because of their special circumstance and desire for personal freedom.
Solomon says that those who choose to reject or ignore the law will praise those who are wicked, but those who keep the law will stand up against the wicked.
The world understands the need for laws, but often those laws are made subject to the individual. People are taught that it is the feelings of the individual that determines whether a law is correct or not for themselves. This is done unless it is a corporate law over the whole.
With this type of mindset, the world rejects God’s law and promotes laws that promote sin against God. Gossip, drunkenness, deviant sexuality, murder, lying, cheating and much more are promoted as good. Those who have chosen to reject God’s laws against sin will praise those who are promoting sin as good.
Believers who choose to follow God’s laws will be willing to stand up against sinful laws and acts. They will be willing to reject following a law of the land that goes against the law of God. They will be willing to speak out against sin that is being promoted as good and right, regardless of the cost in this life, because they see a better life coming in the future.
No matter what nation you live in, there will be some who are promoting sin as good. The promotion of rejecting God’s law will be strong and the wicked will appear to be winning the battle. Keep your focus upon God and His word and follow His laws with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. Stand up against the promotion of sin. Point out that rejection of God’s laws in favor of man’s sinful laws will only bring about death. Do not allow promotion of sin overtake your heart so that you will praise the wicked.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to wicked laws of the land; that God will give you strength to stand up against the promotion of sin; and that God will give you victory over sin in your life and community.
