Proverbs 22:28 Do Not Remove Landmarks

Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set. Proverbs 22:28

For many centuries landmarks have been put in place to mark where the boundaries are. It reveals where one owns something and where the next person’s land begins. It sets a boundary of how far one is to go and at what point one should not trespass into another. Removing any landmarks, removes where the boundaries are. In doing this it allows for chaos to begin to reign and brings harm to everyone involved and will continue for many years.

Solomon states that one is not to remove the ancient landmark that was established by their fathers.

Boundaries between two properties have always been set to ensure each party knows where their line of ownership is. Boundaries can also be placed to protect one from any danger. This can be seen on high level walkways that have a fence along the side to prevent falling over the edge.

In current times, there are many who are trying to remove landmarks and boundaries. The boundary of what a man and woman is, is being removed and blurred. Boundaries of what is acceptable and what is not has been moved.

God set up boundaries in life to allow people to have life to the fullest. His boundaries protect people from death, yet many have rejected those boundaries and removed them.

Churches in the past have set up many boundaries to protect people from falling into sinful ways. Instead of accepting those boundaries, people, who claim to be believers, are removing them and choosing to allow sin in their lives. Churches are now allowing sinful activities to be done inside the church with no repercussions.

Believers need to stand upon God’s word and His landmarks in life. His word guides the believer in how to live life and where not to go to keep from sin. None of these should ever be removed.

There are landmarks where you live that guide you on where you can and cannot go. It is against the law to remove any of those landmarks without permission of those in authority. In the same way, God has placed landmarks in your life to protect you. Do not be like the world and try to remove those landmarks but live within the boundaries God has placed in your life. Those boundaries will bring you eternal life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the landmarks God has given; that you will live within the boundaries of God’s commands; and that you will know the abundant life God has for you.
