The Lord has done great things for us; and we are glad. Psalm 126:3
When a person watches the news, there is very little that one can see to be glad about. There are constant wars, violence, hatred, abuse, sickness, death and much more going on. Everything appears to be negative and nothing to be glad about. Even in one’s own personal life, there are constant problems and challenges that keep one from experiencing gladness. The only time the world finds gladness is when the world is living in selfish and sinful ways.
The psalmist writes that God had done great things for them and they are glad.
With all the garbage occurring around the world it is difficult for people to find anything to be glad about. The number of things going wrong often outweigh in one’s mind the things going right or well. It is easy to see the problems and then complain about them.
Believers can often fall into this same pattern of thinking. Many see believers and only see sad faces and depression, rather than gladness. This easily occurs when one does not have the right focus in life. One is only looking at the negative things and forgetting what good God is doing or has done.
In the life of every believer God has done some mighty great things. It begins with the forgiveness of sins. God’s presence is always there. God is available around the clock. God provides the air to breath, food to eat…life every moment one is still alive and able to think. He provides hope of a greater future with no pain, sorrow or suffering. God provides His word so that one can know who He is and what He desires.
These are just a few great things God has done to cause one to be filled with gladness.
You are just like everyone else with a life that is filled with difficult challenges and problems. You may find days in which it is difficult to find gladness in your life. Instead of looking at all the problems, turn your focus upon God.
Remember all the great things God has done for you. Count all your blessings, naming them one by one. Instead of being filled with sorrow, be filled with the gladness of God, knowing all the great things He has done and continues to do.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the gladness of God in your life; that you will see all the great things God has done and is doing for you; and that you will be glad in the Lord.
