Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips and from a deceitful tongue. Psalm 120:2
Truth is something that the world does not always like to hear. The world wants to live in a world of deception that gives people what they want to hear whether it is true or false. Deception and lies are commonly told in many different ways and are always being justified as acceptable because of the circumstances in which they are being told. As these lies are being told, many people are harmed, while others appear to rise and grow stronger.
The psalmist asks God to deliver him from lying lips and deceitful tongue.
Deception and lies are so common that it is nearly impossible to get away from them. Nearly every business claims that their product is the very best. Banks tell people that they need their credit card. Scammers strive to get information.
Along with those common deceptions, the world also teaches that God is not real, that man came from animals and much more.
Then there are people who tell straight out lies about other people. Since believers take a stand against sinful practices, the world will quickly state that the believer is being hateful and strive to destroy the believer with lies.
Satan is the father of lies and the ruler of this world. He will do whatever it takes to destroy the believer and deceive the believer into sin against God.
With the amount of lies and deception occurring, the believer needs God’s help to be delivered from them. God sees and knows the truth and can reveal it. He can also reveal deception and deliver the believer from those lies. Believers need to keep their focus upon God and His truth that will stand for all eternity.
If you look around you with open eyes, you will see the lies and deception that the world is claiming as truth. While most will not be directed directly at you, there are some that will be. There may be some who are trying to tear you down and discredit you with lies or deception. At a minimum, Satan is doing this very thing against you. Seek God to open your eyes to what is occurring and what is true. Trust that God can protect and deliver you from the deception and lies of this fallen world.
Speak His truth and trust His truth.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as Lord and Savior; that you will know the truth of God’s word in your life; that God will protect you from the deception and lies of this world; and that you will not be deceived by the lies of Satan in your life.
