Psalm 107:9 God Satisfies And Fills

For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 107:9

Finding true satisfaction is difficult for most people. Looking to status and things, people strive to find fulfillment and purpose in their soul and life. It is common to think if someone has just that one more thing or that one more level of status, everything will be good. Going through life, most people do not find the full desired satisfaction. The things and the status leave them empty and hungry and wanting just a little bit more than what they already have.

The psalmist says that God satisfies the longing soul and fills the hungry soul with goodness.

When mankind was created by God, people were created to be in communion with God. There was to be a perfect open relationship on a daily basis with God. Upon choosing to sin, that relationship was severed, and mankind became empty, always desiring for something more.

The world searches for that something more in things and status. All these things and the status are just temporary and lacking in true fulfillment, leaving a person hungry for more, so one tries to get more things and higher status.

Believers are the ones who have learned that in order to find that satisfaction, one must look to the One who created them–God. God removes the guilt of sin and gives a person purpose and meaning in this life. Fulfillment is now found in Christ Jesus, rather than the temporary things of this world.

In order for God to satisfy a soul, one must be hungry and longing for what God has to offer. One needs to put aside personal desires and put all of one’s focus upon God and then God will satisfy and fill the believer with all of His goodness that will endure through the hard times of life and give full meaning.

Every day you may be seeking something to fill you up and give you fulfillment. The things of this world may look enticing and promising, but they will fail you in the end. The hunger that you have can only be satisfied by God and what He has for you. It is His love, forgiveness, goodness and direction that gives you a fulfilling satisfaction for your soul and life. Without God, you will be left desiring for more and always searching for more.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will be hungry for more of God; that you will find true satisfaction in God alone; and that you will know the goodness that He has for you.
