Psalm 104:34 Meditation That Is Sweet To God

May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the Lord. Psalm 104:34

Every person has things that they meditate on or think deeply about nearly every day. Usually, the thoughts are of things that is of great concern to the individual, both things of good occurring and things that are difficult and troublesome that are occurring in the moment or could occur soon. Thoughts run deep as to how to deal with it and how it is affecting one’s life. With those thoughts there often comes great fear or great expectations of joy.

The writer of this psalm asks that his meditations be sweet to God, and he will be glad in the Lord.

The mind of every person is always thinking and meditating on something. Sometimes it can be about good things, what needs to be done or how well something went. However, the mind also can easily race to things that a person should not be thinking about.

Sinful thoughts easily enter the mind. Both men and women will think about sexual thoughts or meditate on how someone had done something wrong to them. People meditate on how they might be able to get revenge against someone else.

Believers are not immune to having times of meditation and deep thoughts. Being human, they will have the same types of thoughts that the world does, unless they are focusing their thoughts on God and wanting them to be sweet to Him.

Instead of allowing one’s mind to run rampant with sin, the believer needs to focus on what God thinks about. Meditating on all the good things God has done and is doing. Thinking about how God is in control of everything. Meditating on how God has provided for every need. Thinking about how God has forgiven sin and provided for salvation. These are sweet thoughts before God.

Your mind will do some thinking all the time. At times you will get into deep thoughts, meditating on something. Do not allow your mind to run to the sinful thoughts of this fallen world but focus all of your mind upon God and what pleases Him. Allow your mind to be transformed by the renewing of the Holy Spirt. Be glad in the Lord for what He has done for you, in you and through you each and every day.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will think thoughts that are pleasing to God; that you will meditate on the things of God; that you will be glad in the Lord; and that God will strengthen your thoughts to turn from the sinful thoughts of the world.
