Psalm 65:7 He Calms Everything

You who still the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the peoples. Psalm 65:7

Noise and chaos appear to be everywhere. No matter where a person goes, there is something going on, busyness, rushing here, there and everywhere. In the midst of all the noise there are problems, disasters, both natural and man driven, occurring. Everything and everyone are trying to draw the attention of everyone else to do or be a part of what is going on. There is very little to no peace to be found anywhere.

David describes God as the One who stills the noise of the seas and waves and the tumult of the people.

Large waves on an ocean crash into the shoreline creating a loud noise. At times the noise can be deafeningly loud. Those same large waves can create disaster for those on the water or very near the shoreline if one is not careful.

In the same way that waves are loud when crashing on the shoreline, the ways of the world are loud. The world is creating noise to distract believers from following God and turn their attention away from God. Calling people to be what they should not be, do what they should not do, say what should not be said and think what should not be thought about.

Although believers are in the midst of all the crashing waves of this world, God can bring calm and peace. His presence can help drown out the chaos of the world in the hearts and minds of believers as they focus upon Him and dwell in His presence and take time to meditate upon His word and truth, not the chaos and lies of this world.

You probably have a lot of chaos that is going on around you. Some that is directly in your life, while much is just near you trying to distract you and pull you down and away from God and what He has for you.

Instead of being pulled down, turn your focus upon God. Get into His word and truth and seek His presence. As He dwells within you, the noise of the world will grow dim. The temptations to pull away from Him will lessen. And His peace will calm your heart and mind in this chaotic and sinful world that is trying to pull you from Him.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will hear God’s voice in your life; that you will know His peace; that God will calm the noise of the world around you; and that you will walk in His presence.
