Psalm 37:7 Rest And Wait For God

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Psalm 37:7

People are impatient for nearly everything. They want things faster and faster than ever before, regardless of how fast things are. They see others succeeding and are working towards it, but cannot get success like they see fast enough. Then people get frustrated and angry that others are prospering, and they are not appearing to make any forward success in their lives.

David says to rest in God and wait patiently for Him, while not fretting when others succeed in their wicked ways.

It is very difficult for a person to watch someone else do everything wrong and yet continue to succeed. In every workplace there appears to be that one person who never follows the rules yet is very successful and prosperous. One business owner does everything the right way and struggles to succeed, while another cheats the system and prospers greatly.

Believers can often feel that way as they watch the world. Non-believers continually live in and promote sinful ways and appear to be very prosperous and successful. It is as though God has turned a blind eye to the sins of the world.

Instead of fretting about how the world is succeeding, the believer needs to rest in God and wait for Him to win the battle. In Christ Jesus, God has promised abundant life in this life and eternal life in the one to come. He has also promised judgement upon all those who have rejected Jesus and lived in sin with no repentance.

That time of final judgement has not yet come but will. The world may succeed today, but in the end will lose the war and be destroyed as the believer lives for eternity.

All around you will be others who are rejecting God and yet appear to be succeeding more than you. They may be successful in material things but are missing the true and abundant life that Jesus provides.

Do not let their success get you down or frustrate you. Rest in the promises of God and wait for Him to bless you in ways far beyond what the world can ever offer. Be patient as He waits for the right time to bless you with eternal life. Eternal life is greater success than anything this world can offer.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will find true life in Jesus; that you will find rest in God; that you will wait patiently for His timing in your life; and that you will see and know the blessings God is giving you each day.
