2 Chronicles 30:6b Return To God

People of Israel, return to the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, that he may return to you who are left, who have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria. 2 Chronicles 30:6b

Foundations are often laid that make a person, a family, a people or even a nation great. Sometimes later in life those foundations are forgotten or ignored. When this occurs, disaster usually follows. Whatever was made great often begins to fail and not be great. Although they may not become physical captives, they are often captive to failure and downfall.

After restoring the temple, Hezekiah sent out a letter to all the people of Israel to return to God.

Throughout America, and most likely all other nations, there are many people who were brought up in a Christian home believing in Jesus that later walked away from that belief. They had a foundation laid as a child to believe in Jesus but allowed the ways of the world to overcome them and lead them away from God.

Unlike most nations, America was founded upon Christian principles and a belief in God. Yet so many have chosen to walk away from that foundation that those who are true believers in Jesus are no longer the majority in the nation.

No matter where one is at in life, if one is not following God, he needs to return to that foundation and begin to serve God again or for the first time. This has nothing to do with whether a person grew up in a believing home or not, but with his own individual choices.

When one chooses to turn to God, God will then draw near to that person. He will restore what was lost, the joy of salvation and His presence and favor.

You must be willing to ask yourself where you are with God. You may or may not have had the privilege of being brought up in a home where you believed God, but you have the opportunity to choose to believe in God yourself and to serve and worship Him.

Do not allow yourself to be deceived by the ways of the world and stay away or reject Jesus and live in sin. Return to God with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. Make Him the only God in your life so that He may make His dwelling place in your life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will live your life to serve and worship God; that God will pull you out of the sinful ways of the world; that you will make Jesus the foundation of all that you say and do; that you will never turn away from God; and that you will lead others to Jesus.
