2 Chronicles 25:2 Half-Hearted Service

He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not wholeheartedly. 2 Chronicles 25:2

Everybody that does a job, whether paid or unpaid, is doing a service to someone else. In doing that service one has a choice as to how well he does it. One can do an outstanding job, a fair job, or a poor job. Very few people choose to do the job as an outstanding job or a poor job every time that they do the work. Most often people do a fair job, enough to get the work done and no more.

Amaziah had become king of Judah and did what was right in the eyes of God, but not with his whole heart.

Doing a job with a whole heart takes severe dedication, determination and focus. Challenges will arise on a regular basis to cause one to back down. Others will be doing less work, bringing on peer pressure to not do so great.

The world, as a whole, wants the most bang for their buck, with the least amount of work. Things are done with only half the heart–half the dedication, half the determination and half the focus.

When Jesus walked on the earth, He did it with following His Father with a whole heart. There was not second thought on taking the easy way out, despite the fact He had to go to the cross for the punishment of what everyone else had done.

Many believers do what is right, but only with half a heart. They do things to look good, or just enough to appear that they are following God. Living like that will cause one to turn away from God when things get difficult.

True believers will obey God from a whole heart, not backing down no matter how tough it gets.

Life as a believer will get very difficult at times for you. The world will come against you and challenge your belief in God. How you respond will be the determining factor as to how much of your heart is in following and obeying God in everything that you do.

Make it your heart’s determination to do everything that you do as unto God with all of your heart. Do not allow any room for any compromise in obeying God but do it with a whole heart.

Are you whole-hearted or half-hearted in your walk with God?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will serve God with your whole heart; that you will never turn away from obeying God; that you will do all that you do as unto God; and that you will allow the Holy Spirit to guide your every action, thought and word.
