2 Samuel 8:15 Doing What Is Right For Others

David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people. 2 Samuel 8:15

Leaders are supposed to be there to help lead the people into what is best for all the people. Often, however, leaders hold the position that they do for their own personal gain and for personal power.

As they hold a position for gain and power, it is common for them to do things that are not always just and right for the people as a whole. Politicians will rule according to the way of those who support him the most, not what is always the right way.

As David reigned over Israel, he did what was just and right for all the people.

Although politicians seem to be known as the ones who lead for their own personal gain, many other people in lower positions, and not always just leaders, do things for their own personal gain. The world says that it is acceptable to cheat a little as long as it does not hurt anyone else.

Behind closed doors many people do what is wrong for themselves and for others. The focus of the world is pleasing self at any cost needed from anyone else except self.

Believers are to be holy, set apart, different from the world in that they will always do what is just and right in the eyes of God. Nothing is to be done out of selfish ambition or pride, but out of love, God’s love for others and for God Himself.

Doing the right thing may be painful and sometimes even harmful to self, but it demonstrates God’s love to the world. Jesus went to the cross to die, as painful as it was, out of love for every person. It was the right thing to do according to God’s plan for salvation for all people.

Whether you lead people or not, you will have opportunities to choose to do what is just and right on a regular basis. Do not allow yourself to cut corners and cheat or do wrong in any situation in your life. Do not allow pride to stop you from doing what is right for others.

Seek God for wisdom on what to say and do that is just and right for yourself and for others. Live as Jesus did by laying down your life to do what is just and right for others.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God requires of you; that you will do what God wants you to do; that God will guide you in doing what is always just and right for all people; and that God will give you the strength to do what is right.
