1 Samuel 22:3 Learning What God Will Do

From there David went to Mizpah in Moab and said to the king of Moab, “Would you let my father and mother come and stay with you until I learn what God will do for me?” 1 Samuel 22:3

Often in situations people will jump ahead of their leaders, thinking that they know what is best, and do something that was not the choice of the leader. In doing so, many will make very poor choices and mess up the situation worse than it already was.

Instead of jumping ahead, people need to stop and listen to what the leader will direct and follow instructions.

As David was being hunted down, he left his family with the king of Moab so that he could stop and learn what God would do in his situation.

Situations arise on a regular basis that have multiple choices as to what one should do or not do. Often each choice may look good or bad, making the choice very difficult. In every situation, God already has a plan in place for the believer.

However, many believers, like the world, will jump ahead of God and make their own choice, rather than seeing how God wants to deal with the situation. They feel that they can make the choice better and faster than God and are unwilling to stop, wait and hear God lead in the best way.

Waiting on God for an answer is putting one’s trust and faith in God and knowing that He will answer and never fail.

In order to wait on God for the answer, one must stop what he is doing and get away from everything and everyone. There should be little to no distractions from hearing the voice the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Once God answers, the believer must then act upon it in faith.

No matter where you are at in this life, God has a plan for your life. He is willing to share what His plans for you are and what He will do and what you are to do.

Do not allow the world to guide you in what to do. Do not let the things and people of this world drown out God’s voice in guiding you.

Take time to slow down, get away from all the distractions and people and hear what God has to say. The Holy Spirit will guide you correctly every time you are willing to listen and obey.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will stop to hear what God has to say; that you will get away from all distractions to hear God speaking; and that you will obey God’s directions for your life.
