1 Samuel 6:19 Mind Your Own Business

But God struck down some of the inhabitants of Beth Shemesh, putting seventy of them to death because they look into the ark of the Lord. The people mourned because of the heavy blow the Lord had dealt them. 1 Samuel 6:19

People love to see and know what is behind a closed door. It is even more common for people to desire to know, see, touch, or use what is forbidden.

One of these great desires is to know what does not pertain to them, to know something that has nothing to do with them.

Some people of Beth Shemesh had looked into the ark of the Lord when it was sent back from the Philistines. God chose to kill seventy of the people for looking into it and the people mourned what occurred.

Out of greed, pride or desire for power people want to know what they are not privileged to know. Many will do what it takes to find out that information.

God, in His infinite and perfect knowledge and wisdom, has chosen when and what to reveal to His people. Everything else is left behind closed doors, some to be revealed at the proper time, other things left undisclosed.

Although there is no ark of the Lord to look into, people try to look into what God is going to do with someone else, minding someone else’s business. Comparison to what God is doing in their own lives versus the lives of others is often done, bringing God’s judgement upon them.

Very rarely will God kill people today, but His judgement still falls. He will remove His hand of favor and cause things to go bad.

Believers must be willing to trust God with what He reveals and does not reveal and not take it into their own hands and look into what does not belong to them.

There are many things God has revealed to you. There are also many things that God has kept hidden from you. Be careful to not strive to look into what God has closed off to you.

Seek God’s wisdom and direction in all things. Allow God to open the right doors and keep closed all the wrong doors in your life.

Know that God will allow you to see and know things that are good for you and in good for you in the right timing. Until then mind your own business and leave things up to God.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will hear God’s voice in revealing things to you; that you will trust in God’s revelation to you; and that you will not seek to know things God is not revealing; and that you will trust God’s timing in revelation.
